  6. be installed on all versions of Mac OS 8 (US English and
  7. international versions).

  9. Updates your Apple Language Kit for compatibility with Mac
  10. OS 8.0 on your Mac OS compatible computer. Note: "LKU for
  11. Mac OS 8 1.0-2of2.img" is only needed if you have Arabic
  12. Language Kit installed.

  14. This software consists of two Disk Copy NDIF (New Disk Image
  15. Format) compressed images, which requires Disk Copy 6.1 or
  16. later to use. Download this software to your hard drive and
  17. then double-click it to use it. Disk Copy is available in
  18. the Utilities folder.

  20. Disk Copy 6.1 (or later) or Disk Image Mounter 2.1 (or
  21. later) from Apple are the recommended applications to access
  22. all disk images released by Apple and are the only supported
  23. applications to access NDIF disk images.

  25. Language Kit Updater for Mac OS 8 Information

  27. The "Language Kit Updater for Mac OS 8" is designed to make
  28. the transition to Mac OS 8 as easy as possible for Language
  29. Kit users. This Language Kit Updater will update your Apple
  30. Language kit for compatibility with Mac OS 8.0 on your Mac
  31. OS compatible computer. The Apple Language Kit Updater for
  32. Mac OS 8 (sometimes abbreviated as "LKU8") is necessary when
  33. attempting to use one of the following Language Kits with
  34. Mac OS 8.0 or newer. (List only includes latest versions of
  35. Language Kits at Mac OS 8.0 introduction).

  45. Any attempt to use the "Language Kit Updater for Mac OS 8"
  46. with previous versions of the above Language Kits is not
  47. supported and therefore not recommended.

  49. Installing the Updater Software
  50. You install the Language Kit Updater for Mac OS 8 after
  51. you've installed the language kit software. To install that
  52. software, follow the instructions in the manual that came
  53. with your language kit.

  55. If you are updating a pre-Mac OS 8 system which has a
  56. Language Kit installed to Mac OS 8, after installing the Mac
  57. OS 8 system software, you do NOT need to reinstall your
  58. Language Kit. You will simply need to use the Language Kit
  59. Updater for Mac OS 8. Some Language Kit users prefer to
  60. reinstall software such as Language Kits when upgrading
  61. system software and there is no harm in doing this extra
  62. step. If you choose the "clean install" option in the Mac
  63. OS 8 installer, then you must reinstall the Apple language
  64. kits before installing the Updater software.

  66. To install the language kit updater software, follow these
  67. instructions:
  68. 1. Turn off virus-detection software.
  69. If you have any virus-detection software installed on your
  70. computer, turn it off. Some virus-detection programs may
  71. interfere with the installation process. Remember to turn on
  72. your virus-detection software when you're done with the
  73. installation.
  74. 2. Quit any open application programs.
  75. If you haven't quit all programs, a message appears when you
  76. attempt to install the software telling you that some
  77. applications remain open and need to be closed.
  78. 3. Double-click the Installer icon on LKU Install Disk 1.
  79. A Welcome screen appears.
  80. 4. Click Continue.
  81. The software license agreement appears.
  82. 5. Click Agree.
  83. The installation dialog box appears.
  84. 6. Make sure the disk named in the Destination Disk section
  85. is the one where you want to install your language kit
  86. updater.
  87. You must install the updater on the same hard disk as your
  88. language kit. If a different disk name appears, click Switch
  89. Disk until you see the name of the correct disk.
  90. 7. Click Install. Note: LKU Install Disk 2 is only needed if
  91. you have Arabic Language Kit installed.
  92. 8. If you see a message telling you to restart your
  93. computer, click Restart.
